The big day has arrived

And so the most anticipated day of the year has arrived...

Everyone woke up early with bright smiles on their faces and big Ang Baos (red packets) in their pockets LOL

Ok to those who don't know the Chinese traditional marriage (which has also been 'modified' along the years),

here's the jest of it.

The groom, together with his groomsmen,

will set off early in the morning to 'obtain' the bride.

And in order to do that,

they will first have to pass the 'tests' set by the bridesmaids before allowing the groom to see his bride.

Make sense?

Back in the olden days,

(quote from the internet)

"firecrackers, loud gongs and drums marked the start of the procession from the groom’s home.

The groom led the procession accompanied by a child as an omen of his future sons, and the bridal sedan chair was proceeded by attendants with lanterns and banners, musicians, and a ‘dancing’ lion or unicorn. "

That is no longer the way things are done nowadays.

On arriving at the bride’s house, the groom’s party was met by the bridesmaids, who would not ‘surrender ’the bride until they were satisfied by the amount of money in the red packet given by the groom.

This was the occasion of much good-natured haggling before the two parties could reach an agreement.

The bridesmaids will only allow agree to lower the amount of money in the red packet if the gloom and groomsmen complete the tasks given to them.

Tasks given to the guys:

- A cup of lemon juice (no sugar/water added)

- a cup of sweetened condense milk

- bitter herbal tea

- wasabi sandwiches

- pole dancing

- pushups

hhmmm i think that's all.

So he finally get to see his bride and bring her home for the tea ceremony.

Anyway, picture means a thousand words.

So just look at the photos.

(or you can say that i'm lazy to type :p )

With that,

the busy day has ended but a new chapter of life has just begun for the newlyweds.

Not much 'saboing' (tricks or games) during the dinner.

People just concocted some brownish, weird looking drink for him to drink.

Then it's my turn to get busy...

IELTS test in a week!!!
