muffins

I decided to try baking muffins again.

(i backed baked this quite a few days back but haven't got the time to blog)

But this time,

i wanted to 'play safe' and stick with muffin pre-mix.

Got the banana and choco flavour.

Looking good...

Decided to top a few choco muffins with some crushed walnuts.

And off they go into the oven.

ooohhhh......they're raising nicely.

Very muffin-like...

hee...the tops are slightly burnt.

I think my oven is too strong.

Must lower the temperature next time *mental note*.

But i don't like the way taste.

There's just this...weird after-taste to it.

Maybe I should try other brand next time.

Betty Crocker is still the best...

I tried the brownie mix before and i liked it.

hhmmm.

interestingggg!!!!

We had one hell of a lecture today.
We had a guest speaker for my Psychology & Gender lecture this morning.
She came up and introduced herself,
"my name is __ and i'm 47 years old..."
I thought,
"how weird?!?! No woman reveals her age in an introduction..."
She continued,
"and i'm a transgender..."
I sure everyone was taken back by that.
Nobody was expecting that we'll have a transgender guest speaker,
and maybe because her features are quite feminine.
The lecture was about her personal experience as a transgender - before and after her life changing operation at age 13+.
It's was really REALLY interesting.
WOW...
I've learnt so much in that hour.
And just a few days ago i was watching a video featuring a real life sex change operation on youtube (found by Jason's friend, not us :p).
I must say it was pretty...erm...intense.
Jason wasn't watching the video most of the time LOL
Let me know if you're curious to know how a sex change operation is done.
I'll send you the link...if it's still available on youtube that is.

something's wrong with us

We did our laundry around 7-8pm.
Went on to do our stuffs while the machine worked on the clothes.
Then we went to sleep,
woke up the next day,
went to uni,
...etc...etc...
only to realise we forgot to hang out the laundry some 18hrs later...
So we have to wash those the laundry again.
First we forgot about our groceries, now the laundry.
What the hell is wrong with us...

car waxing

We spent hours to wash and wax the car yesterday.

We did everything ourselves,

other than washing the exterior of the car.

(due to strict level 5 water restrictions, we drove to a BP petrol station for a car wash rather than doing it ourselves).

Removing the car wax after it dried off was the tiring part.

And now the car's bright and shiny and clean.

Jason will admire the car before, during and after driving.

Guysss....

Today, we went to school to collect Jason's air ticket and we were given a free goodie bag.

Yay!!!

I love freebies!

I was busy fumbling through the bag...

there's a lolly, a box of sweets, weet-bixs, note pad, rubber bracelets etcetc

and then i saw this

For a moment i thought it was some kind of chewing gum until i read the words.

I didn't know condoms have expiry date...

They give out condoms freely in Australia.

I remember going to the second-hand bookstore in Uni and there was this box,
full of condoms and it says:

Please take one.

(or something like that)

Ahahahahahahaha we'll never get to see the word condom in schools (in Sg),

not to mention giving them out for free.

Then we went to the chinese supermarket in sunnybank before meeting up with Sigmund and Eamon for dinner.

After dinner,

we went home and 1hr later,

Jason suddenly looked at me and grinned from ear to ear.

Jason: "i think we forgot something."

Me: "what?"

Jason: *looking at me waiting for me to remember

Me: "???What???"

Then it came to me.

We forgot all about our groceries.

*slaps head*

We had a good laugh about it,
then we rushed down to the car to get them.

Luckily we didn't buy any food that spoils easily.

Sushi!!!

We always wanted to try out this sushi place at West End since 2 years ago,

and after so long,

we finally went to try out the sushi buffet today.

*Sorry Clarence, we reached there around 1245.

So i did not call you.

*ROUND 1!*

The miso soup was surprisingly bland and diluted.
I thought it would be rather salty.

Both Jason and I love sushi.

And we were quite disappointed to see the limited variety offered there.

Those 'Must Have' sushi/s such as:

Amaebi/Ebi Sushi (shrimp), fish roe sushi, Unagi sushi, sweet beancurd sushi and squid sushi are not there.

:(

Luckily they have salmon sushi.

It's so hard to find quality sushi without burning a hole in my wallet.

*DING DING DING!!!....ROUNG 2!*

Their chawanmushi (steam egg) was quite disappointing too.

It was soft and quite smooth but the taste wasn't up to the standard.

You see the brown square thingy?

It's actually deep fried carrot cake.

YUM!!

It was sooo crispy on the outside and sooo soft in the inside.

So yummy but so unhealthy.

It's been so long since i last had something that's deep fried.

So it's ok to have some once in a while.

*excuses...excuses*

And it's so weird that they have chinese food at this japanese restaurant.

*DING DING DING!!!....ROUNG 3!*

(ROUND 4 for Jason LOL)

I was quite full after ROUND 2 so i proceed to the fruits and dessert counter.

There only 2 types of fruits - oranges (quite pathetic looking actually but lots of people are eating them) and persimmon.

For dessert, there's only Green Tea Jelly and a type of pastry (don't know what's that).

The Green Tea Jelly was rather refreshing with a distinctive taste of green tea and the persimmon wasn't ripe but crunchy and sweet nontheless.

*The Finale*

We finished it off with a cup of green-tea-that-does-not-taste-like-green-tea each.

Sat there for a while, took some random photos and trying to decide where to go next.

Next stop,

Chermside shopping center to walk off those extra calories.

Me, happy after the meal,

even though the food was only average.

omg...my arm look huge in this photo.

Some random photo taken during the car ride.

Trivia in the above photo:

Once you say my name I disappear.

What am I?

Easter Break!!!

YAY!!!
Easter break is here and so is my mid-term break!!!
YIPEEEE!!!!!!!!
It's time for bunnies and chocolates!

I'm drained so I've been looking forward for this break.

I wanted to rest for at least 2 days before hitting the books again.

But part of me is telling myself to keep going,

continue to study and work on my assignments.

I hate this kind of feeling...

But i'm still going to relax for a couple of days nontheless.

muahahahaha

On another note,

we went to grab some groceries before the holiday yesterday.

After that we wanted to get subway for dinner but they ran out of bread and other shops were already closed for the holiday,
except for this chinese take away.

(I was reading this blog talking abt this chinese takeaway food in a box where we only see it in the movies and thought i want try it out one day too. And then i got to try it the very day i read the blog LOL.)

It's really tiny considering the price we paid for it.

I ordered Pad Thai.

It was sooo salty...

and not only does it not taste good, it does not taste anything like pad thai.

I guess it's catered for aussies.

(they love salt, especially on their french fries)

Jason ordered Green Curry Chicken With Noodles

It tasted so much better than mine!!

I must have ordered the wrong thing.

Anyway,

Happy Easter everyone!

Now i feel like getting a bunny for myself.

I'm going to pester Jason for that *snickers*
