I'm a Collie!! Hehehehe

Waiting for my next class at 4pm.
Kind of bored.
I love dogs and i really wonder what kind of dog will i be if i'm one.
.
.
.
.
.
.

Take this test at Tickle

Li Wan, you're a Collie!

No bones about it, you're a loyal, nurturing Collie.
A sensitive breed, you're always approachable and very in tune with others' feelings — just like Lassie!
Because of your empathetic nature, you tend to be the group psychologist to your circle of friends.
Your faithful, easygoing, steadfast personality makes you a wonderful confidant;
people love to come to you with their troubles.
Bottom line?
You're a star at interpersonal relationships and have a knack for making new friends and acquaintances wherever you go.
After all, what's a Collie without a flock to look after?
Since you're so giving, your buddies might not realize that you need them just as much as they need you, so make sure not to neglect yours truly.
Everyone deserves some "me" time. Woof!

What Breed of Dog Are You?

Brought to you by Tickle

Miss Singapore Universe 2006

Miss Singapore Universe 2006 is here.
It's down to the final 18 contestants.
I wonder who will win this year?
Do keep me updated guys.

There's this old joke about Miss Singapore pageant,
it still cracks me up whenever I read it LOL

One of the main reasons why in recent years the Singapore government has always ensured that their Miss Universe representatives were of tertiary level education or higher was because of the following incident which occurred not too many years ago.

It is the final round of the Miss Universe Pageant and the 3 finalists, Miss USA, Miss Malaysia and Miss Singapore are being asked 3 simple questions:

Judge : The first question is: Name me an electrical appliance starting with 'L'
Miss USA : Lamp
Miss Malaysia : Light bulb
Miss S'pore : LADIO
Judge : No, no, Radio does not start with the letter 'L'.

I'm going to give you 2 more chances; the next question is:
Name me an animal starting with the letter 'L'.
Miss USA : Lion
Miss Malaysia : Leopard
Miss S'pore : LABBIT

Judge : No, Rabbit does not start with the letter 'L'.
I'm going to give you one last chance, if you answer this question incorrectly, you're disqualified.
Name me a fruit starting with the letter 'L'.
Miss USA : Lemon
Miss Malaysia : Lychee
Miss S'pore, with full confidence, smiles and says : LULIAN!

This is not the end of the story, The judge consulted the board of judges to determine if Miss Singapore should really be disqualified; and they decided that since Miss Singapore was having so many problems with the letter L, they decided to give her another chance.

Judge : Okay, the final question is, name me a human anatomy starting with the letter 'L'
Miss USA : Lung (applause)
Miss Malaysia : Liver (even more applause)
Miss S'pore : LAN JIAO (penis in hokkien)

....they did ask another question i remember....

"Name a famous designer brand starting with "L"
Miss USA : Longchamp
and the US crowd cheer!!!
Miss Msia : Lanvin
Mahathir and Badawi stands up and clap!
Miss Singapore : LORLEK! (rolex)

Lee Kwan Yew peed in his pants!

Shut Up Please...

Geez...
Can someone please tell my neighbours to be quiet?!?!
They've been talking and talking and talking so loudly since Saturday.
Is talking loudly their hobby?
Or is it in their genes???

I'm not discriminating...just plain irritated...

Damn assignment...

This assignment is driving me nuts.
Only a 'marking criteria' given and expect us to work on it.
No topic, no nothing...
I'm going to have a hard time working on such a vague assignment
and trying to stay within my word limit of 2000-2500 words.
It weighs a bloody 35%
and is due in less than 3 weeks time.

Hope my lecturer will reply to my email asap.

I can feel a headache coming on...haiz...

Then its back again and before you know it, it's gone again.

Cyclone Larry...

Cyclone Larry leaves hundreds or maybe even thousands homeless.
News of big Larry can be read everywhere,
images and video can be seen here and here. .

Look at the damages...

A snake or crocodile might just swim pass you while walking on the badly flooded streets.

'Satellite image shows Cyclone Larry (left) and Cyclone Wati (right) forming to the east of the far north Queensland coast.Photo: Reuters'.

Rain will be expected here,

with thunder storm on Thrusday and Friday.

Hopefully big Larry AND Wati will not bypass here...

crossing my fingers...

assignment...assignments...assignments...

Another Friday flew away.
I practically did nothing after class other than the usual stuff,
groceries shopping, cooking, washing dishes, laundry...
I deserve to do nothing after a crazy week of lectures and tutorials.
and i'm really good at that so yay :)

I declared Friday as 'MY DAY',
so Jason has to spend the whole day doing what i want to do!
WAHAHAHAHA

So we played monopoly,
with him controlling a mystery invisible player and me as the banker,
while watching 'Star Wars II' on tv.
I know that sounds silly but there's absolutely nothing to do on a Friday night other than clubbing which both of us don't do.

Then we watched 'Apollo 13' which i dozed off soon after,
because i was really tired.
I love to sleep...well...who doesn't.

I had a full day of activity planned out today:
Wake up late.
Cook some food to bring to Elo's house warming in the afternoon
(but was postphoned to next week,
luckily i haven't start preparing the food LOL)
Then work on my assignments tonight.
(I'VE 9 BLOODY ASSIGNMENTS THIS SEMESTER!!! *AAHHH!!!*)
I hate it when we become slaves to the system...

So anyway,
I might as well clean up the house since i'm not going over to elo's.
Then go to war with my endless-inhumane-insane-atrocious-drudgery stream of assignments.

Here's the overview of my workload this sem...
1 mid semester exam,
2 presentations
(i detest presentations),
3 final exams,
5 quizzes and
9 bloody assignmentsss.

I was thinking of getting a part-time weekend job,
but i'm not sure if i've got the time to do that now...

8929 votes since Mar 9 2006

It seems that australia is having this problem too,
according to Today Tonight.

House

Took some pictures of my home in Brizzie.
The proof to Sally that it's almost impossible to stay over at my place if she visits me.

This is the bedroom-turned-study room.

My table is in a total mess...i'm working on a piece of assignment that's why.

That's a picture of my precious on my desktop.

Our living room and bedroom...yes...i sleep in the living room.

That's our kitchen...Hate the stove. I prefer fire to hot plate.

Our study room-turned-store room.

The balcony which we only use once.

People always go...huh? Why sleep in the living room?

The study room is too small for two, plus Jason got lots of stuff.

That's why we use the study room as our alternative store room instead.

Therefore, we convert our bedroom into our study room.

We need a proper room to study.

So we ended up sleeping in our living room hEHehE...

So Sally, you can sleep either in the kitchen or toilet if you want

wahahahaha

Tired...

Just finished lecture and i'm hanging out in the library,
checking email and blogging while waiting for Jason to pick me up.
His class finishes at 9pm, 1hr later than me.
I'm so tired.

I was talking about how much work it takes for a relationship/marriage to work previously.
Today, I received an email about 'Enhancing Relationship'
You might have read it before,
but no harm reading it again.

TRUST

is a very important factor for all relationships.
When trust is broken, it is the end of the relationship.
Lack of trust leads to suspicion, suspicion generates anger, anger causes enmity and enmity may result in separation.
A telephone operator told me that one day she received a phone call.
She answered, "Public Utilities Board." There was silence.
She repeated, "PUB." There was still no answer.
When she was going to cut off the line, she Heard a lady's voice, "Oh, so this is PUB.Sorry, I got the number from my Husband's pocket but I do not know whose number it is."
Without mutual trust, just imagine what will happen to the couple if the telephone operator answered with just "hello" instead of "PUB".

NO POINTING FINGERS

A man asked his father-in-law, "Many people praised you for a successful marriage. Could you please share with me your secret?"
The father-in-law answered in a smile, "Never criticize your wife for her shortcomings or when she does something wrong.
Always bear in mind that because of her shortcomings and weaknesses, she could not find a better husband than you."
We all look forward to being loved and respected.
Many people are afraid of losing face.
Generally, when a person makes a mistake, he would look around to find a scapegoat to point the finger at.
This is the start of a war.
We should always remember that when we point one finger at a person, the other four fingers are pointing at ourselves.
If we forgive the others, others will ignore our mistake too.

CREATING PERFECT RELATIONSHIPS?

A person visited the government matchmaker for marriage, SDU, and requested "I am looking for a spouse. Please help me to find a suitable one."
The SDU officer said, "Your requirements, please."
"Oh, good looking, polite, humorous , sporty, knowledgeable, good in singing and dancing.
Willing to accompany me the whole day at home during my leisure hour, if I don't go out.
Telling me interesting stories when I need companion for conversation and be silent when I want to rest."
The officer listened carefully and replied, "I understand you need television."
There is a saying that a perfect match can only be found between a blind wife and a deaf husband,
because the blind wife cannot see the faults of the husband and the deaf husband cannot hear the nagging of the wife.
Many couples are blind and deaf at the courting stage and dream of perpetual perfect relationship.
Unfortunately, when the excitement of love wears off, they wake up and discover that marriage is not a bed of roses.
The nightmare begins.

NO OVERPOWERING

Many relationships fail because one party tries to overpower another,or demands too much. People in love tend to think that love will conquer all and their spouses will change the bad habits after marriage.
Actually, this is not the case.
There is a Chinese saying which carries the meaning that "It is easier to reshape a mountain or a river than a person's character."
It is not easy to change.
Thus, having high expectation on changing the spouse character will cause disappointment and unpleasantness.
It would be less painful to change ourselves and lower our expectations.

RIGHT SPEECH

There is a Chinese saying which carries the meaning that "A speech will either prosper or ruin a nation."
Many relationships break off because of wrong speech.
When a couple is too close with each other,we always forget mutual respect and courtesy.
We may say anything without considering if it would hurt the other party.
A friend and her millionaire husband visited their construction site.
A worker who wore a helmet saw her and shouted,"Hi, Emily! Remember me? We used to date in the secondary school."
On the way home, her millionaire husband teased her, "Luckily you married me.
Otherwise you will be the wife of a construction worker."
She answered ,"You should appreciate that you married me.
Otherwise, he will be the millionaire and not you."
Frequently exchanging these remarks plants the seed for a bad relationship.
It's like a broken egg - cannot be reversed.

PERSONAL PERCEPTION

Different people have different perception.
One man's meat could be another man's poison.
A couple bought a donkey from the market.
On the way home,a boy commented, "Very stupid.
Why neither of them ride on the donkey?"
Upon hearing that, the husband let the wife ride on the donkey.
He walked besides them.
Later, an old man saw it and commented, "The husband is the head of family. How can the wife ride on the donkey while the husband is on foot?"
Hearing this, the wife quickly got down and let the husband ride on the donkey.
Further on the way home, they met an old Lady.
She commented, "How can the man ride on the donkey but let the wife walk. He is no gentleman."
The husband thus quickly asked the wife to join him on the donkey.
Then, they met a young man.
He commented, "Poor donkey, how can you hold up the weight of two persons. They are cruel to you."
Hearing that, the husband and wife immediately climbed down from the donkey and carried it on their shoulders.
It seems to be the only choice left.
Later, on a narrow bridge, the donkey was frightened and struggled.
They lost their balance and fell into the river.
You can never have everyone praise you, nor will everyone condemn you.
Never in the past, not at present, and never will be in the future.
Thus, do not be too bothered by others words if our conscience is clear..

BE PATIENT

This is a true story which happened in the States.
A man came out of his home to admire his new truck.
To his puzzlement, his three-year-old son was happily hammering dents into the shiny paint of the truck.
The man ran to his son, knocked him away, hammered the little boy's hands into pulp as punishment.
When the father calmed down, he rushed his son to the hospital.
Although the doctor tried desperately to save the crushed bones, he finally had to amputate the fingers from both the boy's hands.
When the boy woke up from the surgery & saw his bandaged stubs,
he innocently said, " Daddy,I'm sorry about your truck."
Then he asked, "but when are my fingers going to grow back?"
The father went home & committed suicide.
Think about this story the next time someone steps on your feet or u wish to take revenge. Think first before u lose your patience with someone u love.
Trucks can be repaired..
Broken bones & hurt feelings often can't.
Too often we fail to recognize the difference between the person and the performance.
We forget that forgiveness is greater than revenge.
People make mistakes.
We are allowed to make mistakes.
But the actions we take while in a rage will haunt us forever.

Waiting for the next lecture.

Just finished my brunch and did some readings for tomorrow's lecture.
I'm in school's computer lab now.
Waiting for the next lecture to begin at 1pm.
The lecture notes are still not available online.
Haiz...i hate going to class without all the necessary notes.
I'll have to scribble on another piece of paper then transfer to the notes when they are made available online.
What a waste of time and energy...

I had a tutorial eariler on.
It's on family studies.
We had to introduce ourselves and i was really taken back by something.
In the class of 25 (give or take),
about a third of the class are from broken families!
I know there's an increasing trend in divorce rates in Australia,
but i was unaware that it was THAT HIGH!!

I guess it takes alot of work to make a relationship work,
but it takes alot more work, patience, endurance, loyalty and many more things to make a marriage work...

I'm dead?

I had the weirdest dream last night.
I dreamt that i was dead!?!?
The funny thing was that Jason can still see me and we can still hold hands LOL
How ironic...
I even saw two of my friends,
whom i've not seen in years,
dead too!

Lots of weird things happened in the dream too.
But i can't remember them very well.

According to Sigmund Freud,
"Dreams are wish fulfillment.
People fulfil ungratified needs from waking hours through wishful thinking in dreams."

hmmm....so i wish to be dead?!?!?
whahahaha

Finally!!!

At last!!
The sun is out!!!
Rise and Shine!!!!

I've always complained about the sunny weather in Singapore.
It's only when I live in Aussieland,
only have I experienced the freak weather for the last couple of weeks,
only have i experienced winter,
then I learnt how to appreciate the sun.

Talking about Singapore,
that 3 months holiday back at my homeland seem almost surreal now.

I wonder how everyone is.
I wonder how my baby is.
I miss her...

*Sigh*
Got to go do my weekly readings...
